Achievements in Sabre Fencing

  • Gold medal at the world largest FIE satellite competition (London 28th October).
    William beat team-mate James Honeybone in the final of the competition which included contestants from all around the world. This moved William up to 58th senior in the World rankings.
  • 7th in World at Junior World Championships in Plovdiv (22 Apr 2017).
    In the team event William scored 13-5 against Lokhanov, the world's No 1. The team narrowly missed out on a medal, ending 4th in the world.

  • Gold at British National Junior Championships (3 Jul 2016)
  • At the European Senior Championships team event William beat all 3 seniors from the French team (24 Jun 2016)
  • 45th at European Senior Championships, Poland (22 Jun 2016)
  • Gold at British National Junior Championships (17 Feb 2016)
  • Last 64 at adult international Padoua, Italy (29 Jan 2016), losing to Szilegy (current Olympic champion)
  • 3rd in European Junior competition, Bulgaria (15 Nov 2015)
  • Gold at Welsh Open (8 Nov 2015)
  • Awarded funding through British Fencing's World Class Programme and started full-time training in London (2 Sep 2015)
  • Gold at Oldham BRC (30 Aug 2015)
  • Gold at Leon Paul Junior BRC (5 Jul 2015)
  • Gold and Silver medals (team/individual) at the Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships in (Cape Town Jul 2015)
  • Represented GBR at many international competitions and attended Junior European and World Championships - first year as a junior (Mar/Apr 2015)

    This was the first European circuit title by a British sabre fencer in many years.

    A very strong competition with 178 fencers from all over Europe plus Canada and USA.

  • Represented GBR at European Cadet Championships in Croatia - finished 27th overall (2nd best GBR result)
  • Bronze medal at Bedford under 20 Sabre (24 September 2011)
  • England Champion under 15 Sabre (Hatfield 25 June 2011), when only aged 13
  • Part of "Team Cornwall", winners of 2011 Excalibur competition (Bath University 7/8 May 2011)
    William won 26 out of his 33 fights, many against adults.
